The Pilates method is a unique system of exercises designed to connect you deeply to your body as a whole. Pilates targets many spectrums of physical fitness: Strength, Balance, Coordination, Proprioception, Awareness, Flexibility, Mobility, and muscular Stamina, aiming to build strength, improve posture, and increase mobility in joints and flexibility in muscles.
Pilates was developed over 100 years ago, by German physical trainer Joseph Pilates. He initially created his method to rehabilitate wounded soldiers returning from war. After moving to New York City, his method was sought out by dancers to help heal their injuries, get stronger, move better, and prevent possible injuries while performing. During the era of dancers incorporating Pilates into their practices, elite celebrities took notice of the benefits Pilates offered and quickly flocked to Joseph. His method soon after began to boom and spread nationally.

Pilates is great to help build healthy workout and movement habits. Pilates also helps with building confidence, relieve stress, and gaining a healthy relationship with your body.

You might sweat and you will deffintly feel a small muscle burn! Pilates exercises are small movements and challenges every muscle in the body. Some movements might feel like youare doing nthing, but you will feel a whol lot of something.
The exercises do not hurt, but some might feel a tad bit uncomfortable. That is your muscle working, and getting adjusted to the exercises or stretch. Do not fear the burn, we learn to embrace it!

Pilates is not intended to aid in weight loss or body composition.
Your body will naturally get stronger, and you may see of feel muscel definition, because Pilates is low-impact strength training. However, Pilates does not work to create a calorie deficite that will cause weight/fat loss.

Depends on you!
If you are new to Pilates or exercise in general, we recommend starting with 1-2x a week. Then slowly progress to 3x a week after a few months. You want to give your body time to adjust to the exercises.
If you are a fitness enthusiast, you can do Pilates multiple times a week. There are people who do this 6 days a week!
